Open Question: How do I break a lease when I have 2 other roommates that do not want to leave that are also on it?

I live in a 2 bedroom apt. with 2 other women. We have a verbal agreement that we will each pay 1/3 of the rent and utilities. My roommates are other and daughter and the daughter doesn't have a job and does not pay for anything. Recently the mother bought 2 flat screen televisions without consulting me and is requiring me to make a third of the payments on them. I cover some of her daughters living expenses as well which I never agreed to. They also put the electricity in my name. I only make about $600 a month and cannot afford to continue paying for their shortcomings. I want to move in with my fiancee but can't save up the money to pay the cancellation fee for my lease and my roommates of course wish to stay. How do I get my name taken off the lease without ruining my credit or getting sued?  more

Open Question: When receiving medical test results via phone from a non-physician, are they allowed to charge a fee?

The situation is, upon receiving some test results for my son, my wife received a phone call from the office via the nurse. The nurse prior to giving the results stated that we will be charged a $10 consulting fee for giving us the results (they were going to mail them anyway). My wife agreed to it, however my question is are they legally allowed to charge for a result we are entitled to receive? If so is that still valid even after accepting the charge? Resolved Question: How did Joseph Smith predict the destruction in Jackson County, Missouri? (mormon related)?

The excerpt below is taken from B. H. Roberts, New Witnesses for God , Vol. 1, p. 298: The following prophetic incident is given upon the authority of Mr. Leonidas M. Lawson, now of New York City, formerly a resident of Clay county, Missouri, and a brother-in-law of General Doniphan. "In the year 1863," says Mr. Lawson, "I visited General A. W. Doniphan at his home in Liberty, Clay county, Missouri. This was soon after the [Civil War] devastation of Jackson county, Missouri under what is known as 'Order No. 11.' This devastation was complete. Farms were everywhere destroyed, and the farm houses were burned. During this visit General Doniphan related the following historical facts and personal incidents." Then follows in Mr. Lawson's account a recital of the treatment meted out to the Saints in Missouri from the time of their first arrival in 1831, to their expulsion, including recitals of the personal relations of General Doniphan and Joseph Smith, including the following incident which occurred during the Prophet's imprisonment in Liberty jail: "On one occasion General Doniphan caused the sheriff of the county to bring Joseph Smith from the prison to his law office, for the purpose of consultation about his defense. During Smith's presence in the office, a resident of Jackson county, Missouri, came in for the purpose of paying a fee which was due by him to the firm of Doniphan & Baldwin, and offered in payment a tract of land in Jackson county. "Doniphan told him that his partner, Mr. Baldwin, was absent at the moment, but as soon as he had an opportunity he would consult him and decide about the matter. When the Jackson county man retired, Joseph Smith, who had overheard the conversation, addressed General Doniphan about as follows: "'Doniphan, I advise you not to take that Jackson county land in payment of the debt. God's wrath hangs over Jackson county. God's people have been ruthlessly driven from it, and you will live to see the day when it will be visited by fire and sword. The Lord of Hosts will sweep it with the besom of destruction. The fields and farms and houses will be destroyed, and only the chimneys will be left to mark the desolation.' "General Doniphan said to me that the devastation of Jackson county forcibly reminded him of this remarkable prediction of the Mormon Prophet. . . . In a letter from Mr. A. Saxey of Spanish Fork, Utah to Mr. Junius Wells treating further of the fulfillment of this prophecy, so well attested, Mr. Saxey under date of August 25, 1902 says: "In the spring of 1862 my regiment went south, and it was during that time that "Order No. 11" was issued, but I was back there again in 1864, during the Price raid, and saw the condition of the country. The duty of executing the order was committed to Colossians W. R. Penick's regiment, and there is no doubt but that he carried it into effect, from the howl the copperhead papers made at the time. I went down the Blue river, we found houses, barns, outbuildings, nearly all burned down, and nothing left standing but the chimneys which had, according to the fashion of the time, been built on the outside of the buildings. I remember very well that the country looked a veritable desolation." Cheesemaker- Joseph Smith predicted it before the destruction of Missouri happened, I think that means it was before the fact actually.  more

Resolved Question: I'm trying to list a complaint against a hospital, any ideas?

I'm trying to list a complaint against a hospital. All I want is just to keep my $180 ER fee to help pay for the medicine I had to buy as a result of their mistake. It's the Rutland Regional Center in Vermont. I talked to the Center, but now I'm submitting a complaint to the Vermont Board of Health. Anyone else have an idea of what else I can do? Here is a copy of my letter: I am a Georgia resident was hiking on the Appalachian Trail. A sore started that developed into an abscess that got deeper and wider. When the sore did not heal, but was about 1 inch in diameter with a wide ring of pus and a dark red-black center I decided to visit a hospital. The staff of the ER that I visited—Rutland Regional Center—literally laughed when I told them I was feeling tired and that an infection had formed. They said it was nothing; that the abscess was minor, and I was tired because of hiking for so long. Then, they sent me home with a diagnosis of Fatigue. I continued on hiking. The abscess got worse, and I felt more and more weak. I collapsed in the woods while hiking all by myself. I barely made it back to town. From there, I was thankfully able to get transportation back home. At home, my regular doctor tested the abscess and found that I had a staph infection. I sent a complaint to the hospital staff and received no response. I sent a second complaint. No response. I finally called and was told that my complaint would be considered. About two weeks later, I received a written reply from Rutland Regional Center saying that their original diagnosis was correct—nothing was the matter—because I had a normal WBC. I consulted a second medical opinion who said that the “normal range of WBC is 4-10. It can be elevated without one knowing if you don't have a baseline to compare it to. Also, a skin infection is unlikely to cause much of a rise, if any, in WBCs.” Ultimately, no cultures were taken by the Rutland Regional ER staff despite the fact that I had an obvious large oozing wound. Though the staph infection wasn’t indicated by the WBC, it did exist and could have been treated if a culture had been taken. Yet, instead of taking the necessary procedures, the staff simply continued to say that I had Fatigue. Having no means to effectively combat this infection, I continued hiking and subsequently collapsed. Now, what I would like to happen is that the ER fee—$180—is dropped as I have no money after being forced to return home earlier than expected and experience a long period of fighting the Staph Infection that had—by this time—become quite severe. NOTE: My GP’s diagnosis of my Staph Infection can be presented upon request. No, I was told that I was Fatigued and to take some rest, but that was all that was needed. I did take a week off like they said, I guess I should put that in there. NOTE: I only started after a week's rest.  more

Voting Question: Different ways to treat PCOS, and getting pregnant and possibility's of it resulting from Candida Yeast?

OK, I have had PCOS for at least 3 - 5 years. I am trying everything I can to get better/pregnant. I have changed my lifestyle around the ways I eat, sleep, exercise, and have sex. I have consulted with almost 10 doctors, OB-GYN's, and everything else imaginable. I have tried medications (Clomid, Metformin, etc.), Vitamins, and nothing seems to work. I have done hours and hours of research, and I have pretty much gone to the limits to try and get rid of my PCOS. If there are any great tips out there that have personally worked for you, I am willing to try to get rid of this. My periods are semi-irregular. I get them about every 35-45 days, and fortunately have been since November of last year, which is new for me. I did miss march, but it was weird how it worked out. After hours of research, I also found this: "Candida is a fungus that is found in the body in benign amounts, but when given the correct circumstances, grows uncontrolled throughout the body. It most commonly resides in the small intestine, but it often runs from the sinuses down to the groin. Candida is known for causing, or being a part of, reproductive organ problems, such as yeast infections, endometriosis, PCOS, impotence, and fertility problems. Other symptoms may be difficult to pinpoint. The most obvious is yeast infections, especially chronic yeast infections. It can also cause depression, gastrointestinal problems, allergies, and a variety of other symptoms. Candida makes a person crave sweets, grains, and cheese and makes you eat when you're not hungry and/or more than you need. It can lead someone to become overweight. A candida yeast overgrowth is caused by eating too many foods that feed the fungus, such as the foods mentioned above. However, most people get it from taking oral antibiotics, which end up killing all the bacteria in the body, including the good bacteria which keeps the normal levels of candida benign, allowing the fungus to grow to massive amounts." Source: http://www.steadyhealth.com/how_to_get_rid_of_pcos_t177577.html Now if this is true, this is very possible for me! I am CONSTANTLY craving sweets/chocolates, and when I first found about that I had PCOS, I had chronic yeast infections, and in about 2 years I had about 10-15 of them. And since then, I get about 1 or 2 a year. Is this a possibility for me? How do I get checked? What are some treatment methods (Vitamins, Home remedy's, prescriptions, etc.)? And will my PCOS go away by treating the Candida, and if so, will I need a scan again/how will I know? Can anyone else testify to this Candida Yeast issue, and what worked for you? Thanks for your time.  more

Resolved Question: Why is it bad, John Edwards paid a mistress with campaign funds & OK, Jessie Jackson did it with charitable $$?

Its a bit confusing that it appears perfectly acceptable for Jessie Jackson to shake down corporations for "consulting fees" (Jackson's cronies demand millions from corporations or be picketed for racism), then the money is laundered through a charity for Jackson to use for himself, including paying off a girlfriend of 4 1/2 years, with charity funds- http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/jacksons.htm Now, why is the nation's most popular ambulance chaser, John Edwards, is being thrown to the wolves for doing the same thing as Jessie Jackson did? Is it because he can't play the race card? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090503/ap_on_re_us/us_edwards_affair;_ylt=AngrLKf7eisM8aFVFj84wqSs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTJqNGE0NzJpBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkwNTAzL3VzX2Vkd2FyZHNfYWZmYWlyBGNwb3MDNARwb3MDMTIEc2VjA3luX3RvcF9zdG9yeQRzbGsDZWR3YXJkc2Fja25v  more

Voting Question: I have no guarantor but already signed the lease?

Ok so I signed a lease a week ago, a week later regretted it (stupid mistake), and am in a battle to get out of the situation... throughout the ordeal, i was never informed that i would need a guarantor. the lease says if i can't find a guarantor, write a letter that says you can't find one, and the apartment has the option of cancelling the lease. So by consult of attorney, i wrote and sent the letter. But, upon calling the apartment complex, they say that cancelling the lease is upon THEIR discretion and that they will not cancel the lease, and they never have. After several calls and complaints, they informed me that I have three options. 1, find a guarantor and move in. 2. don't find a guarantor, stay where i now live, and still pay rent that im liable for, 3. get somebody to replace me. (can they do this for me?...200 dollar re-rental fee? what does that entail?) The complex is RIGHT across from campus and I KNOW they can fill the apartment in no time flat...so why are they being hard asses? Basically...what options do I have? Yes i am 19...about the third option, do I just give them the 200 dollar re-rental fee and they find somebody else? That would be a prime objective since theyre telling me that I have to pay 520 a month for a year while still living at home...ouch And FURTHERMORE...they went on to inform me that if I dont get a guarantor, they will evict me before i ever move in, and ill still be paying rent for the year.  more

Resolved Question: Jack Russell Terriers? Any Breeders or Owners with experience?

I own a 3yr. old Jack Russell Terrier (A.K.A Parson Jack Russell Terrier, Parson Russell Terrier). My dog has been on the same type of food, BENEFUL. He gets enough food and exercise. But, he had "Hot Spots." Red spots underneath of his hind legs. We used a spray "Cool Skin." That worked. But, they keep comeing back if I forget to put the spray on. It doesn't seem to bother him much. So we changed his food to a more heathier food recomended by a feed store owner. He has been doing much better. The new food "Halo" is better for him, anyways. This way he gets more nutrients. I plan on consulting a vet ASAP. But I will not be able to for a few more days. Any suggestions as to what I can do in the time being to help with the red spots?  more

Resolved Question: What should I feed my pregnant dog?

Is Puppy food or High Quality food better? Should I feed her High quality food, then puppy food for the last couple weeks of her pregnancy? She is a large breed. Our vet seems kinda amateur, and has made many mistakes in the past... so I'd like to consult people that have fed their dogs to keep them from losing weight during pregnancy. We add Plain yogurt to her food right now, along with some canned food just to strike up her appetite, as she is a very picky eater. She is on Cod liver oil capsules, to help with joint pains. Anyone have any advice? You guys are really rude. We got her from a neighbor four weeks ago, as they don't want a pregnant dog. We want to know how to have her in the healthiest shape for when she gives birth. We're not going to pay for a breeding mentor for one dog, and we are an hour away from any significant town.. Some help would be appreciated. I don't really want to get patronized for taking in a dog that would undoubtedly suffer if we did not. Being a large breed, and suddenly taking on the weight of a litter can put strain on her joints. Thank you walking lady! You are the first to answer ANY of my questions. :)  more

Resolved Question: Are these veterinarian fees high or standard?

for a cat Exam/consult- $46 FDRC Annual $26 Rabies $34 Fecal $27 FIV/FeLV $50 Revolution $17 Feline Leuk. $26 I actually brought in two cats, so my total bill was over $450. It seems really high to me for routine care. I was expecting around $300 for both cats. Are these standard fees these days? These were not first shots....and the cats had already been tested for the FIV/leukemia (they weren't vaccines they were tests) and been spayed etc when I got them. I thought that this was a test that was done once and once only for indoor cats, but they insisted it was done yearly. I know animals are expensive, but I could have sworn that when I brought them in for their annuals last year with our old vet the bill was closer to $300. I also didn't understand the need for a fecal on both cats, when the poopies I took from the litter box may very well have come from the same cat anyway...and they were getting treated for worms regardless of the outcome. But, if these prices are in line I suppose there's not much to be done about it. Thanks everyone.  more

Resolved Question: Consulting/Non Profit/Business?

I own a small computer repair company. Work out of my home. Now, I would like to grow my business, perhaps offering computer repair classes to people in recovery. (I am in recovery myself). I am thinking of approaching various halfway houses and programs in the area about my idea, once it's finalized. My problem is, is that I do not know how to charge for fees. At some point, I would like to go non profit, but that is a huge undertaking at this time. I would like to make this a full time thing(as close to possible, that is), so to totally do this for no compensation will not get my bills paid. Any ideas? Again, this is a new idea, so go easy. Dont want to charge excessive fees nor lose my house. Just need some guidance on fair fees. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!  more

Resolved Question: What legal options does a small business have against deadbeat clients?

I am part owner of a small consulting firm that is having an issue with a deadbeat client. The client is still in business, but is refusing to pay for outstanding invoices that has been over 2 years now. The client had made promise after promise that the payment would be honored, but for the past four months would not even answer e-mails. Since the amount is over $100K, it is not an amount that we can overlook. What course of action do we have? Does it make sense to hire an attorney to collect the amount? If we do so, what is the fee and the time that we are looking at? What other options are open to me other than hiring an attorney?  more

Resolved Question: What happens when evicted from a mobile home?

Me and my boyfriend purchased a mobile home in Colorado. Purchased, not rented, so we pay a mortgage and then a lot fee. My boyfriend got layed off and we just can't afford it any more. What happens if we just abandon it. I know after 28 days of not paying lot fee the trailer park evicts you. What happens with the loan on the trailer? Does it go against credit? For how long? If we were to do that, would we have to do anything when doing taxes next year? If they re-sell the trailer, would we owe anything still, or what that just default our loan? And does anyone know where I can find proffesional answers to these questions? Like, should I consult a lawyer, or someone else? Thank you The lenders, they are the ones we make the mortgage payments to, right? There is NO way to contact them! I have tried calling over 50 times, I have left over 30 voicemails, and nothing back. This has all been in the last couple months. And the office at the trailer park can offer no help (nor do they try). Not only that, but I do not want to keep this place. I hate it, and I can't afford it. I just can't sell it right now.  more

Resolved Question: Why are democrats for limiting excessive CEO compensation, is that the pot calling the kettle black?

WASHINGTON -- Recently released financial records paint a contrasting picture of the Obama administration: a cabinet composed largely of politicians and government employees who have been on the public payroll for years, and a White House staffed with numerous aides who received substantial compensation over the past year from firms that could have a big stake in administration policies. Some of the overpaid people on Obama's team include: Well-paid White House staff include chief economic adviser Lawrence Summers. He earned about $5.2 million from hedge-fund firm D.E. Shaw & Co. in the past year, and received more than $2.7 million in speaking fees from financial firms and other groups. Other White House staff members received generous payments from the private sector, too. National-security adviser James Jones reported $900,000 in salary and bonus from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as director fees from a number of corporations, including $330,000 from Boeing Co. and $290,000 from Chevron Corp. His deputy, Tom Donilon, earned $3.9 million as a partner at the law firm O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where his clients included Citigroup Inc., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Obama fund-raiser and hotel heiress Penny Pritzker. Mr. Donilon was formerly a top official at government-backed mortgage finance company Fannie Mae, which has received large amounts of financial assistance from the U.S. government. Carol Browner, assistant to the president for energy and climate change, disclosed $450,000 in "member distribution" income, plus retirement and other benefits, from The Albright Group, a consulting firm whose principals include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Ms. Browner's financial disclosure indicates that she has resigned from the firm and will receive a $369,000 payout over three years, based on a longstanding company formula. Resolved Question: Custody battle..No court date recieved. What Shoud I Do?

To show how controlling he really is, My sons father is suing me for custody and has required me to get granted permission by him or the courts to leave the state of CA with our 6 month old son, who is supported by and lives with me. He knows I have an easter trip on wednesday that I am planning to go on to be with family in Mass. When I consulted an attorney there was no court date in the summons he filed. The attorney said he did not do the paperwork right. So my question is can I still travel as planned with getting in trouble or how can I obtain permission from the court to travel before wednesday? I couldn't pay the attorney and I know he would've done everything for me but I just didnt have the $3000 retainer fee he wanted before he helped me.  more

Resolved Question: Gas Safety laws... What leverage do I have over landlord/estate agent?

Two days ago I received the keys to a new flat which is not particularly cheap. It was supposed to be a nice new place for my wife and child (due in six weeks. I dropped of some boxes yesterday and opened a cupboard in the bedroom where a boiler is. I smelled gas and called Transco (emergency gas line). The guy came came round and informed me there was no leak but that it was dangerous, not be turned back on and needed replacing. We then consulted the bundle of notes that the estate agents gave me and reviewed the boiler certificate, which stated that the boiler had actually failed a safety test! So the agency have taken a sizeable desposit, months advance rent, and admin fees from a young couple who are expecting a baby (they knew this). I went in this morning and was diplomatic about it. They have left me a message saying that the new boiler will be installed by the end of today. I don't think I should just accept that. What laws do I need to be armed with when I return the call? How far should I push them with money back, etc?  more

Resolved Question: Job-related expenses deduction!!!?

I have a full-time professional job and also I do some professional consulting. Last year, I spent $1,506 directly related to the consulting (vehicle use and laboratory service fee). Can't I get employment-related deductions? Turbotax delux says expenses should be over 2% of adjusted gross income, which is $112,920. But, the consulting is about 15% of my total income and the $1,506 is about 9% of total consulting fee...  more

Resolved Question: Do you have suggestions in regards to my financial situation? Please, only serious answers?

Last April, my husband was laid off. He began drinking even more and started arguments over literally nothing. I put his resume on Monster.com, and he got a decent job he likes. His drinking continued, however, and as much as I would ignore him, he would try harder and harder to make me angry to start a fight. After he began his new job, he just decided to cut me off financially - no warning. I don't get a paycheck during the summer, so he knew this was the best time to hurt me. In August, he told me to file for divorce. I suggested a separation, but he insisted on divorce and became so violent I filed the papers. He had terrible credit, due mostly to identity theft that I worked for years to clear up, so all credit cards and loans were in my name alone. I tried to keep up with the payments, which I did for a few months, but it became impossible since my income was now thousands less than it had been. I called my credit card companies before I became delinquent to see if my payments could be lowered, but they said only if I were delinquent would I be eligible for any program. I called Credit Solutions, which ended up being a huge mistake, and cost me $3600 that could have gone towards my bills. I set up payment arrangements with several creditors, but the payments were almost the same as the orignals, and the payment for a line of credit ended up being even higher because they were going to lower the interest rate and shorten the term of the loan. I don't know what to do. I am not able to meet my monthly expenses on my paycheck alone. Once I pay the mortgage, HOA fees, insurance, utilities, etc., my check is gone. I have nothing left over for the rest of the month. My creditors call, and I talk to them about payment arrangements, but their offers are not something I can afford. They continue to call nonstop, even though I have already spoken to them. I even consulted another credit counseling service recommened by a creditor, but the payment would be absolutely impossible. I cannot afford to have lawsuits filed against me and have my wages garnished. My home is worth $40,000 less than what I owe. I had perfect credit until this past fall, when I just couldn't keep up with things on my own. I feel terribly for my daughter. I can't afford her music lessons, the kind of clothes she used to wear, or to take her places like I used to. I can't get child support, since my husband was her step-father. I feel hopeless. I have no clue what to do. Even if I file Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the payment will be not be affordable, from what was figured during an initial consultation. I have been working an extra job, making about $500 extra per month, and had a temporary 3rd job. My second job will be ending in April. During the holidays, I couldn't even get a job at Macy's because I didn't fit the needs of the specific jobs they had available, even with a master's degree. I look and look for extra work. I've sold all I can on ebay and Amazon. If you have any other suggestions, please share. I would greatly appreciate it. I live in California.  more

Resolved Question: do i have a workplace harassment case?

Before I consult an attorney (and pay a consultation fee) I wanted to see if anyone here had an opinion as to if I have a case. The other day at work, an employee harassed me for over six hours in front of fellow employees and supervisors. He cursed at me constantly, and threatened to "put a boot up my..." He followed me around the workplace, mocked me, etc. The entire time I kept my cool, even going so far as to tell him "I'm not going to fight with you, so you might as well stop" and he never stopped. Because of this situation, I had to resign me job due to being very uncomfortable there. Any thoughts?  more

Resolved Question: 20 Weeks along in pregnancy and noticing a strong vaginal smell. Normal?

TMI sorry but I need answers. In the last week or two I have noticed a very strong odor. IT IS NOT A YEAST INFECTION or any other infection for that matter b/c I have been tested for everything and I am quite accustomed to yeast infections. The odor is similar to that of when I used to have my period crossed with a vinegar/B.O. smell. It's weird. I am finally showing and have gained about 10 lbs which means that area sweats easily. No matter how cool I stay, an hour or so after my shower and thorough scrub it starts to appear again and the more time that passes the stronger it gets. I am assuming it is hormone levels fluctuating but I would like to know if anyone else is in the same boat or anyone who has a similar story. I have another regular visit in a week which I will then consult my physician but until then I'd like some feed back. Thanks for your responses!  more

Resolved Question: Need a good and fair priced landlord/tenant lawyer in Washington DC.?

I am the tenant. I am due my security deposit, which I would handle myself but I believe I may be due damages. I would like to find a good lawyer that doesn't break the bank that could consult me. This is a run down of what happened... I vacated my previous rental unit on the 12th day of September, 2006. I provided my landlord with forwarding contact information. He never returned the deposit to me or notified me of valid deduction from my deposit. I also believe that he unlawfully evicted us, took criminal actions, discriminated against us and interfered with our right to fulfill the lease agreement in peace, all of which I have proof. When my roommate and I realized we were going to be behind on the rent in June of 2006, I sent a partial payment with a note detailing why I was late and a payment schedule of when I would pay the missing monies, bringing my balance to paid in full by July 15, 2006. Our landlord never contacted us stating that this was not acceptable to him. Our first inclination that there was a problem was when we received an eviction notice on our door. When we received the eviction notice we realized that he had made a claim for judgment in the incorrect amount. He made a claim for $2520, stating that we owed him for a full two months rent plus an outrageous 10% in late fees, (there is no mention in our lease of charging anything for late fees). He held onto the partial payments we had already sent him. He did not send them back with a written letter stating that he was not accepting partial payment. One of our payments he forged the date on the check and deposited it weeks after receipt. My roommate and I went to court, (the landlord did not show). On that date we discussed with his lawyer a missing payment we had made to him in the amount of $330. His attorney stated that the landlord told him the check had been returned for insufficient funds. We had no record of this and his attorney did not have the correct balance due so he advised us to hold our payment. We ended up mailing the landlord the remaining payments including the two months of late fees. We sent two letters expressing our desire to resolve this situation and other matters, he never responded to us and kept moving forward with eviction proceeding while holding on to our payments, never communicating with us or responding to our letters or calls. After we received the notice from the US Marshall stating that we could be evicted at any time, we were left with no choice but to pay the stop payment fee and stop payment on our checks (except for the one in question of $330) and move out. After we moved out he cashed the check for $330. Additionally, he never repaired our air conditioning; we lived in sweltering heat all summer. I woke up with termites hatching out of the walls and going onto my bed. I made him aware immediately and he never exterminated. He made derogatory comments towards my roommate as well as he NEVER referred to her by her correct name. He made a miserable living experience for us and I hope that he does not continue to do this to other unsuspecting renters. I have… A.Copy of check with forged date B.Copy of our lease for verification of handwriting C.Copy of letter sent dated August 28, 2006 D.Receipt of letter (dated August 28, 2006) sent by certified mail E.Copy of letter sent on August 6, 2006  more

Resolved Question: Student Homeowners/Renters.?

-My parents rent out houses, and I plan to rent one as soon as I can. Im thinking sometime around next December. However, that's not very crucial information. I'm 15, and by the time I move I'll be 17. I just need to know how this would affect things like; schooling (education fees, etc.), insurance (on cars, health, etc.), and other things. For instance, if i for some reason wanted a tattoo or something that required parental consent, would I still need to consult my parents before doing so if I am living on my own and paying for everything? Please and thank you for any help/advice/etc. [: p.s: Please dont give me feedback on what you think of my decision to move out so soon. I just need advice. [:  more

Voting Question: What should I do to resolve a Wet Reckless in California?

I have asked about this before, but I am still in need of some info and advice. I am a Washington state resident and licensed driver. After a California DUI arrest in 2003 while on vacation, I pleaded guilty to a Wet Reckless charge. CA courts fined me heavily, but did not order any license suspension or alcohol classes. I paid all my fines immediately. My driving priviledge in CA was suspended for 1 year by the CA DMV for a breathalyzer refusal. My CA attorney advised me not to worry about the CA suspension order, unless the Washington DMV acted on it. That never occured. I renewed my WA license in late 2004 without any problem. Even with the renewal, I did not drive in CA or WA for over a year. (I'm kind of a paranoid guy). An on-line check of my WA drivers license show it to be fully valid, yet I am worried that I got bad advice from my lawyer and ignoring the CA order of suspension is going to come back and bite me. The CA suspension was over in 2004, but the order talked about needing SR-22 insurance and paying a re-instatement fee after the suspension period was over. Here come the questions: As a WA driver, why would I need to get SR-22 insurance in CA and pay a re-instatement fee for a CA drivers license I never had and do not want? I have to renew my WA license later this year. Will the CA suspension affect my ability to renew? With my valid WA drivers license can I drive in any state except California? I don't want one stupid mistake 6 years ago to cause me more problems. I don't really know what to do or who to consult. I'm kind of freaking out about things. Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks  more

Resolved Question: Afraid my mum would misunderstand?

my handphone slipped through my pocket while i was running during my school's cross country, it fell on the cement road and now the screen is spoiled and everything is responding slowly so i can't use it now and it has to be repaired, but the repairing fee may be very high. so i have to consult my parents and i'm afraid my mum would think i deliberately spoiled my phone so that i could get a new one if the repairing fee is too high, what should i do? it was really an accident, plus i'm kind of a material person, and don't suggest me to tell suddenly tell my mum " i didn't spoil it purposely it really slipped through my pocket" she will suspect me more! plus acting sad and crying is not efffective on her I had to because everyone brings their phones with them we live in Asia, and we don't have independence like Western kids plus we take it with us everytime we go out, and i had some transportation problems and i need to know where my friends are  more

Resolved Question: what are the chances of winning this lawsuit in favor?

This is about my friends mother. She has been in a lawsuit for about 2 and a half years due to a car accident by a woman who has numerous reckless driving records. My friends mother's lawyer offered the other side 50,000 to settle inclusive of all costs and attorney fees. He did not even consult her to see if she agrees with that amount, I don't know if he had to. She would like to take it to court with a jury but she's afraid of what if they judge her an amount less. She has no income right now and how are fees and costs paid if she gets less and has no way to pay? Also, what are the chances of the jury awarding her more? Her doctors have said she needs back and jaw surgery due to this accident as well?? This is in florida.  more
