But then again, how many receipts would an average company need to reduce it's tax liability more than an immaterial amount (e.g. 30% effective tax rate means a benefit of $0.30 for every dollar on the receipt--average consumer receipt is likely $100 or less = $30 benefit per receipt, meaning at least 100 such receipts would be needed for just a few thousand dollars)? For a smaller mom-pop business, even more receipts would be needed b/c it's eff. tax rate is even lower. And then, why have the receipts anyway when an IRS audit is unlikely, especially for the millions of mom-pop companies in America? And then, even with the receipts you'd have to be careful b/c when the IRS audits you, (and they would if your business is in a relatively stable industry, your sales are beyond threshold, yet your effective tax rate is nill--red flag), they will recognize them as improper receipts. Why not just illegitimately cut your sales? Why not just invent some arbitrary consulting expense with an Excel invoice? I don't think it's market research because the stores are the only ones who would want to know what's moving, and the receipts don't have demographic info on them. I guess it could be rebate fraud but this firm doesn't care what's on the receipt, and usually a UPC is needed. note: IRS of course doesn't care about a potential tax fraud unless it's $2M+ (personl reward threshold), then you've got to fill out a form and invite the federal government into your personal life. moreVoting Question: I need help with this question and there are total 20 question and select best answer for each question?

Is it ethical or even legal for an attorney in a family law case to take action which seriously affects their own client financially without consulting the client prior to doing so? My attorney re entered my divorce case completely without my consent or knowledge, and was granted her request from the judge to have a property transferred solely into my name. The problem is, the property has a mortgage on it which is three times more than the current value of the property. My ex has been paying the mortgage and now he is refusing to continue payments since the property which was in joint names before, is now solely in my name. The banks will repossess the property and I will never receive anything from sale proceeds, whereas had my attorney consulted me BEFORE taking unilateral action, I would stopped her and I could have received SOMETHING from the property in a year or so when the property market improves. I only found out that she did this by way of a letter AFTER the fact. She has not returned my calls or replied to my emails outlining my complaint. I can not believe she took this action with absolutely no prior consultation with me. She obviously didn't properly check the title or she would have discovered that the property was heavily encumbered. Surely this is unethical and even illegal? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated as it is very difficult to get legal advice from lawyers regarding complaints against other lawyers. I need to make a decision between taking a government job offer that pays 30% less than I made last year or staying with a better paying consulting job with less job security. I've listed both jobs under option A and B along with the pros and cons that I've thought about. However, I'm interested in your opinion... this feels like a tough decision for me. A) The full-time job offer - must make decision in a few days. advantages: 1) Great job security 2) Decent pay. It's a little better than the industry average. Given the economy... it might be considered above average. 3) Low pressure work environment. 4) Local job position... little or not travel required. 5) Decent number of vacation days. disadvantages: 1) The pay is 20-35% lower than my current consulting position. 2) I would be at the top of the pay scale with no increases except cost of living. There is some opportunity to get promoted in a different type of company role. 3) Eventually I might get stressed about feeling stuck in a position that doesnt have much upward mobility (with payscale or promotions). 4) I might become less motivated to self-study since that is not encouraged much by management. 5) Might get called at night to do some work from home on the computer. B) Decline job and keep my current consulting job advantages: 1) Currently much better pay. 2) Still seems to be some demand in this economy for my skillset. I get a headhunter call about once a month. 3) I am growing my business as I do consulting work. 4) Good skill sets and education... so, other opportunities might exist if I lost this job. 5) New contract negotiations will take place in a month or two. I might get a higher pay rate. 6) Because I am paid by the hour... I stay motivated when overtime is required. 7) Motivated to learn new things. disadvantages: 1) I could be let go at anytime... but I've been doing consulting here for several years. 2) Stress about much greater chance of losing job in very tough job market. 3) New contract negotiations could mean I am let go. 4) New contract negotiations could mean a lower pay rate. 5) Requires extra studying to stay in demand. Ok, hypothetically lets say i had to consult a company on how they should resolve a situation, lets say a company has two possible products to develop and sell, the company is low on cash and needs success in this decision to survive. the owner isnt good with decision making so he forms a group, each person from a different expertise in the company, legal, manufacturing, marketing, research etc. Time is an issue, longer it takes to decide, more money wasted. How should this decision be made? So far ive decided that a consultative decision making process might be the best idea, because that way we use the expertise of each of the experts, but dont uneccesarily slow the decision making process down by using a slower way like democratic or full consensus. Should the decision maker still be the company owner? or should he pass it off to someone better suited? who would be better suited? is this even a good way to do it? The concepts of yin & yang come from the (i ching). If you were to consult it, which area are you the most interested ? #1 the physical: money, health & beauty ? #2 the social: family, relationships, friends & lovers ? #3 the spiritual: optimism, depression, evolution of your soul ? Check it out > > > http://www.yijing.nl/i_ching/index.html moreVoting Question: Is the reason that believers don't question the Bible because there is really no way TO question it?
I'm just trying to understand the process by which believers blindly accept that the Bible is the truth. When I am taught something, and I *feel* it makes sense, I usually do not question it. If people I respect also feel it makes sense, that reassures me that my beliefs are justified. If the vast majority of people agree with it, that also reassures me, albeit to a lesser extent. This does not mean I never question what I've been taught, but only that I don't immediately feel the need to research the matter, because it's not something my life depends upon. Since I was little, I was taught that to get enough protein in your diet, you had to eat some sort of animal product (beef, poultry, seafood, dairy.) Getting enough protein is something your life depends upon. Did you know, however, that it is virtually impossible to die from protein deficiency in a developed nation. Almost all foods have some amount of protein in them, and the fact is that the number one cause of premature death in America is OVER INGESTION of high protein foods (beef, eggs, dairy.) Even though the beef, poultry and dairy industries do their best to make people believe the opposite (and most people do.) When I am taught something that my life depends upon which does NOT make sense, I will exhaustively research the matter to find out as much as possible, so I can make an INFORMED decision. My research might include personal experimentation, consulting with experts, consulting with people opposed to what I've been taught, reading unbiased opinions, etc, etc. If the issue in question has personal ramifications (e.g. taking a medication), I will be extra diligent. Religion, apparently, deals with the most important and personal aspects of life and death possible, so naturally we would assume that if any aspect of a religion did not make sense, a sane person would be compelled to research the matter themselves. After all, this is life and death you are talking about. Yet it seems that very few people question the validity of the Bible or Christianity, or the claims made by the people who market Christianity. Perhaps part of the problem is that the promoters have really very little information available to back up their claims, so a person is left with two options... believe because that's what you've been taught, what you see other people believe, and what the religious industry markets, or don't believe and EXPERIMENT with a life without religion. From what I see and have experienced, given equal opportunity, there is nothing a believer can do or achieve, or experience in life, that a non-believer cannot do. The Bible makes numerous absolute claims regarding things that can not be corroborated, and the claims DO NOT MAKE SENSE. In any other situation, when an outrageous claim is made, a person will seek out evidence to corroborate the claim, so how can you possibly accept the Bible as being true when it is full of outrageous claims that there is really no way for you to corroborate? How do you know you aren't just playing it safe because the Christian industry has exploited your worst fears? moreResolved Question: Advice on IT graduate getting into medical information systems.?
I have a BS degree in IT. I am interested in getting involved in medical information systems, however, I have no idea were to begin. Is there further education to specializing in these systems. I have seen the degrees in health information systems but they seem aimed at medical coders. I am more interested in administering systems, or possibly consulting for a medical information technology company. Would a degree in health information systems help get me were I want to be? Is there a market for administrators, etc..? moreResolved Question: Who provides the better website hosting service with template and web design software: Homestead or Yahoo?
I am doing some consulting marketing for a family member and they want to have a website that they can easily customize when necessary. Two website services that caught my eye were Homestead.com and Yahoo.com. Both of them provide templates to build websites off of, both have simple software for design purposes, and both seem to offer e-mail and domain names. Although I could personally use website design software like Dreamweaver, I want my family member to be able to make simple changes without my help, thus why I am interested in one of these sites compared to other web hosting sites like GoDaddy.com. Of these two that have templates and web design software, who would you choose? Please provide a little comparison to justify your recommendation. Thank you for your Help. Although I appreciate the help thus far, I would like for contributors to focus on the question; for instance, if you are going to recommend a separate site other than the two I asked about please tell me why you prefer that one over the mentioned ones. Thank you moreResolved Question: Due to physical limitations, I can't fly. Are there any MBA level marketing jobs not requiring travel?
I have searched for jobs that didn't list any travel, but then by the time I interview or get a job offer, I'm informed they are 10-20% travel. I then mention that I can't travel coach, and it seems like they just interpret that as me being cocky and demanding, and it goes out the window. I'm 6'9", and proportionally, physically do not fit in airplane seats. Because I'm a big guy (375 lb), even though I'm an athlete (ex-college sports, current semi-pro football) and perfectly healthy, I can't manipulate my body to squeeze my legs in any other way. I know this sounds awkward. I can barely get by on SOME airlines by sitting in exit rows, but few- if any- allow you to specify that prior to flying anymore. I've had good luck on the rare flights that I have had to take as of the last several years that someone was willing to give up their bulkhead or exit row seats for me- and once I even got the flight attendant to let me sit with my legs going into the aisle, but I can't rely on this goodwill should i be traveling frequently. I just want to put this "problem" away and not deal with it, but I'm thinking it's impossible. I guess I can resort to my undergraduate engineering degree, but I was really hoping to enter marketing as I am quite passionate about it- and have performed exceptionally well in schooling and a non-travel consulting internship. I have no problem traveling up to 14 hours in a day via car, as i have made trips of such length frequently in the past. Is there any type of position or company that won't require travel? Or is there any way I can "word" it early on to keep me on larger planes with business class seating or first class seating without it being a huge negative? moreResolved Question: Would you like to be part of the gulf hub "Dubai"?

I am a college student living in Ohio. I have been seriously considering investing in property in Flint, Michigan with my tax returns. There are homes selling for less than $500, most of which are in serious need of reconditioning. What sort of legal issues should I be aware of before I begin my search? Is there anyone I should consult before buying a home, such as a lawyer, real estate consultant, etc.? I would not be living in the home. It would be something I buy with cash and slowly renovate or sell when the market picks up. Oddly enough I travel to Flint at least 15 times a year, so I know crime is a huge problem as well as unemployment. The roads are awful, and the city itself has decayed to the point of being an unusually "rural" town. But I think if Flint got enough outside aide, it has potential to be much more. Even if I don't but a property, I want to get involved in some capacity to help the city move on. moreResolved Question: Is a career change into being a librarian in middle age possible?
I am a 41 year old man who was recently laid off after 15 years doing mostly MS Access database work for a small marketing consulting firm. I have been seriously thinking about a career change. One change would be into teaching and I have had some bites especially since I have a math/science background and that is in demand. I have a BS in Computer Science and an MBA in Marketing. I also for 2 years after school in high school worked in a library in a role where I had a lot of autonomy. The other idea I had is to work at a library/be a librarian. I have always been a "vessel of information" and part of my inspiration is that one of our clients at my past job was a consortium of colleges that offer information science degrees. It appears that many libraries have a need for someone who is very savvy in databases and the Internet and for people with my exact line of qualifications and experience. Where I'm lost is how I "get my foot in the door" for this. For example: - Do I need to get a Masters in Library Science or Information Science? - Is this an impossible field to first crack into when over 40? (Albeit, barely "over 40"). Please let me know, any advice is greatly appreciated. moreVoting Question: Best deal for How To Market Your Online Videos - Get Video Traffic To Your Site?

I feel the owner has a say as to how much and to whom the house is sold. Some realty agents I've consulted with lately make me feel that they want to be in control - giving me along list of demands even before they will consider taking me as a client and talking down to me. One realtor absolutely turned me off with his hubris when I tried to start a conversation. He said in effect- "Don't try to make small talk with me because there's nothing you can tell me I don't know. I'm a college graduate!" If he's so smart, why is he selling houses? The company that I agreed to assist/consult (webservices/graphic arts) for did a reverse merger with a shell company to become public, and the original shell co. owners got 16M shares and then the company floated another 15M shares, but the owner set up the rest of the 154M shares of stock to be held in another company in which he owns 100%. Why would he do that and how could I convince him to put at least half of shares or a substantial percentage of his into the public market so other investors could buy them and advise him that otherwise, very few investors will buy stock in the co, because they could get hurt if he owns that much? Or should he put them in the pink sheets traded company's name and loan it or give it back to the company? The stock only trades at $.015-.025 and unless he gets more out in the market, I dont think its good for investors to buy and I don't believe that my shares will be worth much anytime in the near future, correct? They had posted this information 12:01 pm on Jan 20, 2009. Coincidence? http://www.crn.com/security/212901821 As the article goes: "While Heartland has not yet disclosed the exact number of compromised accounts, experts estimate that the number could well exceed 100 million, making the incident the largest security breach in history. "Most of these companies don't even know they're being hacked," said Mandeep Khera, chief marketing officer for application security and risk management consulting company Cenzic, based in Santa Clara, Calif. "They would never have caught this problem if Visa and MasterCard didn't notice something fishy on the transactions." Following the investigation, Heartland execs said that they took additional, mitigating steps to secure the company's systems, which include a plan to implement a program to alert users of malicious threats attacking the network in realtime.
