Resolved Question: Question over Big Brother is Watching Everyone.?

It a question in my homework. Here is the article you need to read first and the question is below, Privacy eroding, bit by byte Computers, Engineers Find New Ways to Keep Tabs On Us First there were security cameras, sprouting like mushrooms on street corners and buildings. Then came shopper cards, offering discounts in exchange for details about buying habits. In recent years, we've seen the emergence of electronic tags or "cookies" on the Internet, software that monitors e-mail, GPS devices that pinpoint our position on the planet, and a growing number of machines that capture fingerprints and face prints. Now comes the news that federal regulators approved the injection of microchips under the skin, enabling physicians with the right gear to know who someone is without having to ask. And yesterday, the omniscient-seeming search engine Google bested itself by announcing a service to probe for information both online and in your own machine. One company official called it a "photographic memory for your computer." Google says no personal information will be sent back to the company. But if it feels like you can't do anything these days without someone looking over your shoulder, you're not just paranoid. Cheap computers, blazing fast networks and clever engineers are finding more and more ways to keep tabs on where you go and what you buy, generally with your permission. They're even getting better at guessing what you'll do next. "It's this whole new world. It's sort of like all these little details about our lives are being recorded," said Richard M. Smith, an Internet security consultant in Boston. "We love the conveniences. We love the services. But people kind of instinctively know there's a dark side to this. They just hope it won't happen to them." Smaller, Faster and Cheaper To be sure, companies have long gathered personal and shopping information to better market to customers, often with dubious results. Who hasn't received junk mail or telemarketing calls that seem to have no connection with their lives? But those initiatives are fast improving' and accelerating as people live more of their lives tethered to cell phones, the Internet and the rest of the wired world, where trading off personal information is part of the price of admission. Think about a typical day. An advertising service is notified when you check the sports scores on the Web. The EZ-Pass transponder signals when you go through a tollbooth. The pharmacy collects personal medication details and sends them along to data companies for analysis. At work, some employees now use face recognition systems to get in to their offices, or they type on machines that trace every keystroke. "Every move you make is becoming part of your permanent record," said Peter P. Swire, a privacy expert and law professor at Ohio State University. "The trend is smaller, faster, cheaper." Rapid Accumulation There's no question the data are accumulating, and faster than many people understand. A few years ago, researchers at the University of California at Berkeley estimated that all the information created by humanity by 1999 would double by about now. One of the leading aggregators of personal information, an Arkansas company called Acxiom Corp., has roughly a million times more information about adult Americans and their families than when it first sold stock two decades ago. Other commercial information services routinely tout their ability to access some 20 billion records. And that's not counting the digital details that come in the form of photographs, videotapes and sensor readings. Most people know companies can mine credit card data, loan records and other transactions. But few know that companies already offer video-mining services as well. One day we might be able to mine the information generated by radio frequency identification chip implanted in our arms. Or we might just use a Google search service custom-made for RFID, as the chips are known. Not everybody is vexed by these trends. Homeland security, law enforcement and intelligence officials are rushing to take advantage of this wealth of information to protect the country. Web sites like Amazon.com, cell phone services, catalogue retailers, financial services companies and many others are increasingly adept at using data systems to serve customers. Ask people whether they'd give up those services, and many would offer a resounding "no." David Brin, an author and futurist, believes that recent technological developments have revolutionized the ability of people to see, through cameras around the globe, and remember details through almost unimaginably rich warehouses of information that serve as proxies for our limited memories. He predicts that we will one day be able to "know" almost everybody in the world through instant access to personal information in ubiquitous dat  more

Resolved Question: Where can I find a list of careers in Real Estate?

I am interesting in working in Real Estate ( CA) and I am trying to find a list/website with at least some description of possible careers within the field to look over to determine what area of real estate would suit me best. For example: Sales, Appraiser, Mortgage, Consultant, etc. I'm aware of the general well known fields listed above - but would like to know any/all options. Resolved Question: PLEASE help me...................?

My Vista wireless laptop, which has been connected to our BT Home Hub for several months has stopped working. It says the Hub is "Unidentified" and says that the access is Local Only. I phoned BT and they were no help whatsoever, telling me i had Spyware, (i took it to a local IT Consultant and he connected to his Hub no problem. He said the problem must be with the Hub and that it's not spyware) and the other BT number i phoned wanted to charge me, so no thankyou. I have reset the Hub, to no success, as well as trying to install the CD, although apparently the Key is wrong or something, even though the key is not wrong! Whenever i go to Diagnose the problem it tells me i either need to 'get new IP settings for the network adapter "Wireless Network Connection" ', or to plug a cable into the network adapter "Local Area Connection". Even when i plug the Ethernet cable into my laptop, it still refuses to let me on the Internet. When i go to Troubleshoot from Windows Live Messenger it tells me either my gateway appears to be offline or something to do with my IP address. Sorry for the vast amount of information, but i'm desperate to get my laptop back online. Thanks in advance.  more

Resolved Question: I think I have found a tory party policy - help for small businesses?

Apparently not happy with her TWO taxpayers funded houses Julie Kirkbride's Brother has been allowed to use her expenses account. Her brother bought a digital camera, five memory cards, four internet routers, three external hard drives, a computer printer, map software and a battery. The items, which totalled £1,000.52, were delivered to him at Miss Kirkbride’s Redditch flat between March 2005 and October 2007. In December 2005, she claimed £50 from her office expenses to pay for 200 correspondence cards bought by her brother. During the same period, she separately claimed £220 for another digital camera “I often ask my brother to source IT equipment for me … These items were bought by my brother, on my instructions,” she said. Really 4 routers, 3 external hard drives and two digital camera's for personal use - how does that work? Should we ask to see them in use? He works as an IT consultant from one of her taxpayer funded properties!!! So we are clearly funding his business premises is there anything else we are funding? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/5384302/MPs-expenses-Julie-Kirkbrides-brother-buys-gadgets-and-they-appear-on-her-expenses.html  more

Resolved Question: Are CEO's just not down with the mainstream American?

By VINNEE TONG, AP Business Writer Vinnee Tong, Ap Business Writer – Fri May 1, 12:07 am ET NEW YORK – U.S. companies remain generous with the perks they give to CEOs, including some that are unfathomable to the average American worker: chauffeured cars, bodyguards, club memberships and free travel in company jets. The median value of these and similar perks rose nearly 7 percent in 2008, according to an Associated Press analysis of regulatory filings from 309 companies in the Standard & Poor's 500. The increase came even as overall CEO compensation fell 7 percent to $7.6 million. Perks rose despite a public backlash against such benefits, which many investors and lawmakers deem excessive. They argue well-paid executives should cover the costs of life insurance, charitable donations and financial planning themselves, especially as companies struggle with falling profits, slumping stock prices and massive job cuts. Even some compensation consultants are saying enough is enough. "Those are things the average person, the average Joe, doesn't have, so we're saying, don't give them perks," said Paul Dorf, a managing director at pay consultant Compensation Resources Inc. But plenty of companies are keeping the spigots open. Occidental Petroleum CEO Ray Irani, for example, received $400,000 worth of financial planning, part of a $30 million pay package in 2008. To put it another way, that $400,000 in financial planning is more than the total annual household income of the vast majority of Americans. Occidental spokesman Richard Kline said the comprehensive financial planning helps Irani to "keep his complete attention on the company's business." The median value of perks — which is the midpoint at which half of the executives received more and half less — was $170,501 in 2008, up from $159,586 the year before. Only three CEOs in the AP survey received no perks in 2008. And perks made up a bigger percentage of total compensation, rising to 2.25 percent in 2008, up slightly from 1.95 percent, the AP's analysis found. The biggest earner of perks in 2008 was Johnson & Johnson CEO William Weldon. His perks package was worth $3.9 million, about 16 percent of his $23 million in overall compensation. Included in his perks package was a $3.6 million payment to a retirement plan, about $154,000 in personal flights on the company jet and about $26,000 for a car and driver. Only one CEO saw his entire compensation paid in perks in 2008: Richard Fairbank of Capital One Financial Corp. ($68,344). He received a car allowance, insurance, health care and home security. Some companies went beyond that. Cablevision Systems Corp. offered top executives free cable TV, free high-speed Internet service and use of the company travel department to book personal travel. Defense company Halliburton Co., meanwhile, has two separate programs to match charitable donations and yet another that boosts political giving. Fort Worth, Texas-based XTO Energy gave $3.4 million to Baylor University to help build a new sports complex. It was the second installment of a total $6.8 million pledge made in 2007 to supplement now retired CEO Bob Simpson's own $3.2 million donation to his alma mater. XTO's generosity extended to an unnamed school that Simpson's children attend. It got a $775,000 donation in 2008, the fourth installment of a $3.1 million gift. A company spokesman did not return a call for comment. On the other hand, some companies are increasingly using so-called perk allowances, basically cash that executives can dip into at their liking for the perks they want. For example, Tyco International CEO Edward Breen was given a $70,000 cash perk in 2008 while Reynolds American Inc. CEO Susan Ivey got $29,000 in cash to replace an old executive perks program. While plenty of companies were still willing to dole out generous perks, compensation advisers say there has been a slight pullback in certain benefits that seem to incite the most public outrage. Ira Kay, director of compensation consulting for Watson Wyatt, called perks a major "irritant" to shareholders. Some companies are changing their perks policies. Verizon Communications Inc. will no longer offer free jet travel to CEOs once they have retired, starting with its current chief executive. Past CEOs can still fly for free. "Companies are looking for stuff that isn't central to their pay programs," said David Swinford, chief executive of the compensation consulting firm Pearl Meyer & Partners. "Optics are very critical right now."  more

Resolved Question: Is Facebook's Chat to Text a scam?

This question is obviously a burning question in everyone's mind, since the there is so much chatter about it. But the fact is, that too many people believe what they read on line without doing any real digging. The hype with the money making aspect associated with the application has actually overshadowed the application itself, and I think it's a shame. As a marketing and internet consultant for the past 6 years, I can tell you that the Chat-To-Text applications for a small business owner is great. For instance, I am the marketing consultant for Danley Electrical, a small business in South River NJ. Because he did not have a full time person answering phones, we also gave the potential customer to chat with Walt by placing the "Chat-To-Text" link on his web site. Now he can be on the road and working with his crew, but also be in contact with potential customers. Instant contact through a communication medium the customer is comfortable with. You can see this in action at www.danley911.com and click on the image "text my phone". And yes, they were removed from facebook back in February because of an issue that was resolved and now are back on. So it's not a scam, I know because if you look up my facebook page and request to be my friend, I will grant the request and you will see the link on my profile. Lots of young people out there and or people who don't understand internet marketing saying chat to text is a scam and posting things they really don't understand. Obviously misguided, no offense. Resolved Question: Seriously, do people really do this to themselves....?

Cosmetic surgeons in Britain have warned of the dangers posed by DIY Botox kits available on the internet. An investigation by Which? Computing found a pack containing Botox powder, needles and a face map available without a prescription on eBay from the US for $95 (£62). Botox injections are used to prevent wrinkles and lines but the procedure is dangerous to carry out without medical expertise. "The idea of self-administration is absolutely crackers," consultant plastic surgeon Nicholas Parkhouse, from the McIndoe Surgical Centre in West Sussex, told Sky. "I would advise extreme caution when it comes to something like this. "It's not like injecting insulin if you are a diabetic, you really do need to have specific knowledge. "The effects of the botulinum depend on getting tiny amounts into exactly the right place. "Get it wrong and you could end up with weakness in your eye muscles and drooping eye-lids." The auction website removed the advert as soon as it was contacted by Which? magazine. Sarah Kidner, editor of Which? Computing, said: "It's easy to forget that Botox is actually a poison, which if injected in the wrong area could produce some shocking results. "We were appalled that we were able to buy a DIY Botox kit so easily and we are concerned that the internet is becoming a marketplace for cut-price cosmetic treatments." http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Botox-Kits-Cosmetic-Surgeons-Warn-Against-Injection-Packs-Available-On-The-Internet/Article/200904415271910?lpos=UK_News_Carousel_Region_4&lid=ARTICLE_15271910_Botox_Kits%3A_Cosmetic_Surgeons_Warn_Against_Injection_Packs_Available_On_The_Internet Ohh look I have some wrinkles, I know i'll buy a Botox kit off the internet , stab my face at random with it.....Hey presto plastic face!! Voting Question: Do I have enough experience to become a consultant?

I want to become self-employed. For me, the pros outweigh the cons by a mile. I know how to sell myself, and am very professional. I'm also very analytical, attentive to detail, and business-minded. My interests include small businesses, the internet (especially Web 2.0 Trends) and marketing. I have 2 blogs up on the internet; one about Web 2.0 Trends, and one about computer game development. I'm considering becoming a consultant for small business IT solutions such as web sites, databases, and computer systems. The only thing I'm doubting myself for at the moment is my experience in the field. I have a college diploma (2 years) in Computer Programming. I have about 1 year of experience in web design, web application programming, and .NET programming. I know I have the skills to pull it off (I graduated with honors, and am very self-motivated), but I worry that I don't have the experience to back me up. Do you think I have enough experience to kick-start a career in consulting? If not, do you have any possible alternatives? Thank you "Consulting" might require too much experience in my case. Can anybody think of alternatives for me?  more

Resolved Question: Is co-codamol safe to take in pregnancy?

I've been doing lots of research into this subject and I am slightly worried about my findings. I was admitted to hospital about 3 weeks ago with severe abdominal pains only to find out that I was suffering from ovarian cysts and that I was pregnant (planned). I've since been put on codeine for the pain and I have been taking 30ml 4 times a day with 1000mg paracetamol each time. A pregnant friend then questioned this as she had been told by her doctor only to take paracetamol for pain. At this point I did the stupid thing and starting looking on the internet about it and getting comments back such as "it may be used when the benefit is considered to outweigh any risk to the fetus" and that it should not be used at all in the third trimester. Comments such as "The safety of codeine for use during pregnancy has not been fully established" scare me! "It may cause breathing difficulties or withdrawal symptoms in the baby after birth" if used in the third trimester. And the scarest one "Codeine is what is known as an opioid analgesic (related to morphine) and is not considered safe to use in pregnancy". So I'm panicking! I go to see my GP and she's like "Yeah, it's fine during pregnancy!" "It's been tested during pregnancy!" Basically "Shut up & put up!" Now she's given me Co-Codamol (so I'm not taking 4 different tablets just 2). The co-codamol that she's prescibed contain 30mg Codeine & 500mg paracetamol and I'm to take one to two tablets four times a day (similar dosage as before). So I go and read up on co-codamol and "this medicine should be used with caution during pregnancy, and only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs any potential risk to the infant" So my question is - can I take it? I've been prescibed it! I'm going to ask my consultant (who I'm seeing tomorrow) about it too! But I'm in so much pain at the minute I need something to ease it and don't know whether to take it or not! Help!  more

Resolved Question: Virus 100% CPU usage / image glitch?

On my computer (compaq, windows XP), I was randomly web surfing (on a safe site), and my computer randomly stopped working. It wouldn't even shut down. After I removed it's battery, started it up, and logged on to the account on the computer where it first occurred, it would not respond. Then I opened the task manager, and it told me my CPU usage was 100%. This was not the case on any other account. They had a separate error where, after logging on, I would have to return the internet settings to default to see any images. Earlier, my father was doing research for work (real research, he's a consultant, no porn), when he didn't feel like unpacking his work computer. I have de-fragged my computer, leaving no result. I would appriciate any help on this situation.  more

Resolved Question: A recent spell in hospital in the UK got me thinking about the different levels of the social safety net.?

A recent short period of hospitalisation in the UK brought home to me some of the key differences beween the UK and the US in terms of their respective systems of medical and social care. I was taken by ambulance to my local Primary Care NHS (National Health Service)hospital (a regional hospital with specialist care for major traumas etc) and provided treatment and advice from 3 different levels of doctor. First in A&E (I was seen within 45 minutes), then after being transferred to a short term care ward (up to 5 days expected stay) was seen a more senior doctor specialiseing in my condition, given approprate treatment and then subsequently seen by a senior consultant. My treatment and progress was monitored throughout by a network of doctors and other specialists including a physiotherapist and I was given advice on what I needed to do to complete my recovery. When I had recovered sufficiently I was discharged with a prescription of a months worth of medication to support my recovery. I was also given advice on the nutrition and excercise requirements to aid my recovery. I would imagine that the level of medical care provided was similar to the US for people with full medical insurance. The main difference is that under the NHS it is free to any person in the country including citizens from other EU countries. I have no medical insurance because I do not need it. People in the UK who can afford it have medical insurance to receive essentially the same medical treatment in more comfortable and private surroundings and to get quicker treatment for some non-urgent procedures for which there is a waiting list in the NHS. Of course they still have access to the NHS for more urgent treatment. After discharge I was passed into the care of my local GP (local community doctor) and local social services who took an active part in ensuring I had the support I needed in my recovery and in any other areas visiting me in my home to discuss these areas with me Many of the staff of the NHS are provided by second generation Afro-Carribian immigrants or more recent immigrants from the accession states of the EU (Poland, Hungry, Czech republic etc) and from countries such as the Philipines showing one of the great benefits of a massive influx of highly educated and trained immigrants from countries with excellent education and training systems but who currently are at a lower level of economic development than the leading economic powers like the US, established EU states, Japan etc. The NHS is not perfect by any means but it is going through a massive process of re-engineering itself with large regional hospitals becoming self governing NHS Trusts and outsourcing non-medical services to outside private sector bidders on a competitive bidding system and the whole system monitiored by performance indicators with mechanisms to correct poor performance Great efforts are being made to cater better to the needs of people who because of poor English language skills (another by product of mass immigration), lack of knowledge of the system or lack of basic life skills, including those with mental disabities, who may therefore have difficulty getting full access to to the facilities and help available. The NHS and other bodies are also actively pursueing ways of improving care and support for people in the community particularly to support them through the recovery phase. There is also an initiartive to give people access to self diagnoses and advice on nutrition, excercise etc and specific areas such as problem drinking or the whole range of medical conditions. This is targeted at low income groups who do not have access to the internet at home and may have poor IT skills. This is being done by using the internet facilities that already exist in public libraries and by training library staff in supporting the people concerned with advice on using the system. Medically trained staff will come into the library regurlarly to provide further support in face to face consultation. This is in addition to the services of the GP network. Again all these services are free to any member of the public including of course all new immigrants and any EU citizen. For key public sector workers including NHS staff and others on low income or suffering financial hardship through, for instance, marriage breakup a system exists for the provision of low cost home ownership. A system to provide shared ownership of houses and apartments is provided by government funded Housing Associations who provide newly built or second hand properties on the basis of an initial capital contribution funded out of capital. This will be either a from a mortgage or cash, often from the proceeds of the sale of a previuos home as a result of divorce with the usual 50/50 split of the proceeds of the sale of the matrimonial home, or from savings. This capital contribution can be as low as 30 % of the full market value and can range up to 70% or Question too long & cut off by system. Any suggestions. Question at the end was how people thought the UK system compared with the US. Two countries of similar per capita income. In US you pay for very expensive medical insurance or risk having no access to medical care at all. In the UK good quality medical care is available free for all (inc EU citizens).  more

Resolved Question: Was I laid off fairly? Please help me understand.?

I was hired in June 08, laid off in Dec 08. I was hired as an Internet Consultant, duties included internet marketing, liaison between sales reps, web design & general office duties. I did my job and helped generate sales in a declining market, the company may have suffered financial loss do to sales being down. My question is this: I was let go do to financial issues within the company, when I was let go the owners were taking trips all over and outside the country & I was told they had financial issues that could no longer support my position, but since being laid off they have upgraded the website which was expensive & renovated the whole company. I realize in times like this companies will find ways to make their companies stand out but I guess I feel betrayed a bit and just seeking the answer was I laid off fairly? Thank you for the quick responses, it is very appreciated.  more

Voting Question: My VPN Internet connection keeps getting cut off?

I'm not the most technical of people when it comes to computers, so please bear with me. I live in halls of residence at university where I connect to the Internet with what I believe is called a VPN connection (socket on the wall, plug cable from this into laptop). I recently replaced my old laptop which was damaged and installed the software onto this new one. However, it now keeps disconnecting. I can connect to the Internet fine at first, and it can last for anything up to half an hour to a few minutes before I need to reconnect. I have a feeling it may be something to do with the virus software installed, which I believe is Symnatec. Windows Vista keeps giving me a notice about a message that cannot be displayed, and when I check it out it's options for this program. Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm considering taking it to the IT consultant at the university but if it's something simple I'd rather attempt to fix it myself.  more

Resolved Question: Choosing a network protocol? case project?

Nishida Kitchens is a medium-sized company that makes packaged Japanese foods, including noodles and sauce combinations. Its foods are distributed to grocery stores and specialty food stores throughout Canada, Europe, and the United States. The company is moving in to a new building and has hired Network Design Consultants to help them create a new network. Before the move, their head network administrator accepted a job with another company and his inexperienced assistant has been promoted as the head network administrator. The Nishida Kitchens business and sales unit has 42 computer users. The plant in which the foods are produced, packaged, and shipped has 45 computer users. The company has Windows Server 2003 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers. The business and sales unit used Windows XP Professional workstations. The plant users have a combination of Windows XP Professional and Red Hat Enterprise Linux computers on users' desktops. The company plans to have Internet connectivity available to all network users. Nishida Kitchens has an outlet store across town which provides the public with direct sales of their products. The outlet store also has Internet connectivity on a small network of 12 computers that are running Windows XP Professional. What protocol do you recommend for this network, and what are its advantages? What options are available for you to accomplish this? Nishida Kitchens wants the ability to monitor its networks to keep the network stable and to troubleshoot problems. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this website will no longer load. It is my website for my business. Any website for www.ubah.com or www.ubah.com/consultants simply will not load. It's been 2 days. It's not my internet provider, as my friend has the same internet company and she can get it to load. Any ideas on how to get it to work?  more

Resolved Question: Can you translate this text into ITALIAN? Help me! :-( 10 POINTS?

The record before the Court establishes that Long helped prepare the MAC Employee Handbook that contains MAC’s ECP. The record also shows that MAC sent all employees annual reminders about its ECP. Therefore, the Court is convinced that Long and Presto knew or should have known of MAC’s ECP. Furthermore, the frequency with which those reminders were distributed to all MAC employees makes incredible any claim by Presto, who held the position senior vice president and general manager, internal audit, that he was ignorant of the ECP. The ECP’s admonishment to MAC’s employees that they would not enjoy privacy when using MAC’s computers or automated systems is clear and unambiguous. The plaintiffs disregarded the admonishment voluntarily and, as a consequence, have stripped from the e-mail messages referenced above the confidential cloak with which they claim those communications were covered. Accordingly, the 15 relevant e-mail messages identified in the plaintiffs’ privilege log are not shielded from disclosure by virtue of the attorney-client communication privilege. Work-Product Doctrine The work-product doctrine is set forth in Rule 26 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure: [A] party may obtain discovery of documents and tangible things otherwise discoverable under subdivision (b)(1) of this rule and prepared in anticipation of litigation or for trial by or for another party or by or for that other party's representative (including the other party's attorney, consultant, surety, indemnitor, insurer, or agent) only upon a showing that the party seeking discovery has substantial need of the materials in the preparation of the party's case and that the party is unable without undue hardship to obtain the substantial equivalent of the materials by other means. Fed. R. Civ. P. 26(b)(3). The work-product doctrine “is intended to preserve a zone of privacy in which a lawyer can prepare and develop legal theories and strategy with an eye toward litigation, free from 7 unnecessary intrusion by his adversaries.” United States v. Adlman, 134 F.3d 1194, 1196 (2d Cir. 1998) (internal quotation marks omitted). “Where a document was created because of anticipated litigation, and would not have been prepared in substantially similar form but for the prospect of that litigation, it falls within Rule 26(b)(3).” Id. at 1195. However, the workproduct doctrine’s protection may be waived. The “voluntary disclosure of work product to an adversary waives the privilege as to other parties.” In re Steinhardt Partners, L.P., 9 F.3d 230, 235 (2d Cir. 1993). In the case at bar, the Court finds that, with the exception of the items identified at entry Nos. 1, 8 and 9 in the plaintiffs’ privilege log, the e-mail messages noted in the log constitute work product, since they are communications concerning legal strategies that were exchanged by the plaintiffs, at the direction of their attorney, or were exchanged by the plaintiffs with their attorney in anticipation of the litigation in which the parties are now engaged. However, as explained above, by deliberately using their MAC issued computers and MAC provided internet access to exchange work product, knowing -- or in a circumstance where they should have known -- that MAC monitors its automated systems and, therefore, could gain access to the e-mail messages, the plaintiffs voluntarily disclosed work product to all MAC employees authorized by MAC to monitor its automated systems and to police them for ECP violations. In doing so, the plaintiffs waived the protection the work-product doctrine would typically provide to the electronic communications that are at issue here.  more

Voting Question: How can I deal with me overwhelming feeling of loss as I don't think my baby will go back to breastfeeding?

I have tried everything and my baby still refuses to nurse, I find myself feeling very sad and almost depressed over it. What should I do, I feel so awful? I tried everything my lactation consultant told me to, and searched hours upon hours on the internet and posted here earlier for ideas, but to no avail. I think I am throwing in the towel, but it's so hard. I want to nurse my 4 month old so badly. How do I deal with not being able to do this anymore?  more

Resolved Question: Please help! I feel horrible about using a nipple shield!?

My son is now 4 months old. I have been using a nipple shield at every feeding because of my VERY flat nipples. I was given the nipple shield at the hospital from a lactation consultant. I was also not given much information about it from her. I was getting bruised from my son trying to latch on and was in a lot of pain so I was happy to have the relief, and I will admit the ease of using the nipple shield. I read on the internet the other day that using a nipple shield was not ideal and had several cons to it, such as decreased milk supply. My son has had issues with his weight and I feel like this is all because I use a nipple shield. He is currently in the 6% for weight but is growing steadily. He has been able to latch on the past couple of days with out it, but has also become somewhat fussy at eatings. How do I wean a baby from the nipple shield? Is it normal that he has been a bit fussy while breastfeeding?  more

Resolved Question: How to make lots of money, very quickly.?

I want to make lots of money very quickly. I am a personal trainer, a fitness consultant, and I teach study skills as well. I'm not looking for any particular job, but rather some creative ideas on how to rapidly increase profits. If you have some unconventional ideas on how to quickly accelerate income, I'm interested. Here are a few guidelines: - no jobs involving computers or internet (that means PLEASE don't advertise network marketing) - it has to be legal - I shouldn't have to spend a ton of money in order to make a ton of money - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not reply with "you have to work hard to make money" or "making lots of money takes time", I'm not interested in those kinds of responses. Only reply if you can DIRECTLY answer the question. Let the games begin.  more

Resolved Question: Would you like to read a sheepdog joke? ?

Warning- a bit long A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the shepherd, "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?" The shepherd looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answers, "Sure. Why not?" The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the shepherd and says, "You have exactly 1586 sheep." "That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my sheep." says the shepherd. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car. Then the shepherd says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep?" The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?" "You're a consultant." says the shepherd. "Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?" "No guessing required." answered the shepherd. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew; to a question I never asked; and you don't know crap about my business .... " ... Now give me back my dog."  more

Resolved Question: 1099-MISC related questions?

I have c-corp registered in NV and I used lot of Internet based freelancers and consultants in 2008. I read about issuing 1099-MISC to those whom I paid over $600 in a given year. In a related note, I have following questions: (a) What do I need to report if freelancer/consultant is offshore resource (India based) (b) For US based consultants, how would I generate 1099-MISC? Can I download form from IRS site and issue them to those consultants? Do I need to have a professional accountant or certain software to issue 1099-MISC? (c) For Services of December 2008, I paid to a consultant in Jan 2009. Do I include that payment in 1099-MISC for 2008? Thanks Dave  more

Resolved Question: Is www.registry-china.sh.cn a genuine service or a scam?

Hi all, Recently we received an email from somebody claiming to be a consultant from www.registry-china.sh.cn, which he claims is an official internet domain registration service in china. Apparently another company is trying to register domain names and brands with our company name in them. He is asking whether we have authorized this. Has anybody here had any dealings with www.registry-shina.sh.cn?  more
